Cindy Blackman Santana’s Solo Album Give The Drummer Some is Set for Global Release on September 18, 2020

Nashville, Tenn., (June 16, 2020)--Copperline Music Group has entered into a distribution agreement with virtuoso drummer and vocalist, Cindy Blackman Santana. This worldwide deal will include physical and digital distribution of Blackman Santana’s solo album Give The Drummer Some, which is set for global release on September 18, 2020. Encompassing seventeen songs and featuring the creme de la crème of guitarists, including eight songs with Carlos Santana, two songs with John McLaughlin, three songs with Vernon Reid, and one song with Kirk Hammett, Give The Drummer Some is an eclectic mixture of old school funk and radio-friendly rock/pop combined with rock and jazz instrumentals, featuring Blackman Santana’s incredible versatility both behind the kit and in front of the microphone.

“Cindy is such a creative force and CMG is thrilled to get her music out into the world,” says CMG’s Head of A&R and Label Acquisitions Dewayne Brown.

“For this album, if I had any kind of agenda at all, it was to be all-encompassing,” says Blackman Santana. “Pop, funk, rock, jazz – I embrace the creativity in all of it, and I feel so inspired when I play it. That’s what I want people to feel when they listen to the album – inspired. I am grateful to CMG to help bring my vision to the world.”

As a bandleader and as a musician, Cindy Blackman Santana is a sound innovator with a passion for pushing creative boundaries and exploring movement and change. She is as known for the nuances and colors she brings to her beats and fills as she is for the sheer power of her soulful playing. Give The Drummer Some, with songs produced by Narada Michael Walden, Cindy Blackman Santana, and Carlos Santana, highlights her incredible gift.

For the first single, released on May 29, Blackman Santana and her husband Carlos Santana joined forces with SongAid and WhyHunger’s ongoing effort to fight the global hunger crisis exacerbated by the COVID-19 pandemic with their version of the John Lennon and Yoko Ono-penned classic “Imagine.” View the music video for “Imagine” HERE.
